Despite the hot weather, primary school students from San Wui Commercial Society School and AXA volunteers participated in the ‘Walk with Clean Air Network”. They helped monitor the air quality in parks, footpaths, schools, public spaces and roadsides in Sheung Wan. Air pollution levels of the day were found to be doubled compare to the past records, due to the approaching typhoon. Air cannot disperse trapping pollutants within the city.

The program also aims to educate students history of Sai Ying Pun and promotes walkability. The message of replacing short distance travelling by walking has successfully delivered to the participants, in which Hoi Ling from San Wui School agreed that it is important to “walk more and ride less cars” in order to improve air quality in Hong Kong.

“Walking is fun because slowing down our paces allows us to observe the little details of our city”.

Last but not least, CAN earnestly thanks for the support and sponsor of AXA volunteers for making the tour a success.
