Clean Air NeighborhoodProgram Overview

“Clean Air Neighborhood for Schools” to inherit the results of the “Clean Air Neighborhood” in 2021-2022, and expand the project from Tuen Mun to Kwun Tong and Sham Shui Po.The course content is designed according to the teaching needs. The length of the course is 5-6 sessions, includes lectures, workshops, community observation, and proposal presentation etc. There will also be a community exhibition day following the course, giving students more opportunities to share their research results with people from different communities and exchange ideas on how to deal with air pollution problems and regional air policies.

During the learning process, students will:

  • Learn to use scientific measurement to collect and analyze data;
  • Cultivate innovative thinking and propose district-based solutions;
  • Conduct research in community;
  • Improve presentation and reporting skills;
  • Increase environmental awareness.

From September 2023 to November 2024, 14 secondary schools from Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long, Sham Shui Po, Yau Tsim Mong and Kwun Tong have participated in this project, and the topics are also set according to different districts and subjects.

Through experiential learning, students go into the community to measure air quality, dialogue with stakeholders, discuss the air pollution and its impact.
