Clean Air Indoor for Elderly Home Programme

The Need

Prolonged exposure to air pollution leads to various cancers, respiratory infections, heart disease, strokes, asthma, and even dementia.

With elderly occupants spending majority of their time indoor, indoor air quality is a significant risk factor for their health conditions. These health concerns are also a source of continuous worry for their families and a significant financial burden for elderly care operators, especially in the event of disease outbreaks.

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated how airborne communicable diseases can have devastating effects in elderly homes.

The elderly, particularly those with pre-existing conditions and from low-income backgrounds, are disproportionately affected by air pollution.

Our Objective

Our short-to-medium term goal is to install air quality monitoring equipment and offer practical improvement measures for elderly homes operated by NGOs in the most polluted districts.

Our long term objective is to use our clean-air effort in supporting the elderly homes located in the most polluted areas to create the necessary momentum and facilitate consensus building among various stakeholders to have the relevant government guidelines in place to protect the elderlies.
