Indoor Air Quality
The Need
The current approach to managing IAQ in Hong Kong is primarily voluntary, which relies heavily on individuals and sectoral to take necessary actions. However, with limited awareness, understanding and tangible incentives, many sectors and individuals lack the drive to improve IAQ. As a result, most places in Hong Kong continue to have insufficient levels of IAQ management.
This voluntary model is increasingly proving inadequate to address the growing public concerns about health and well-being related to indoor air pollution.
Our Objective
CAN’s goal is to develop the relevant knowledge base and partnership network to urge the Government to develop a roadmap for long-term IAQ management and to enhance the readiness for strengthening IAQ management in Hong Kong.
Specifically, CAN would
- Proactively seek collaborations with a group of target partners. Their participation will strengthen our access to various resources to accomplish the goals.
- Collaborate with academia to conduct various studies to build necessary knowledge about the issues and implications, cost-benefit analysis, international practices etc.
- Communicate with all major stakeholders to highlight the urgency to address the IAQ issue and the feasibility of achieving the target results.
