Samantha Hon

Board Chair

Samantha is an accomplished banker with a successful track record in corporate and investment banks. She is a founding member and Managing Director of Grand Voyage Partners and a board member of AMP Investment Partners. She was formerly the Managing Director and Asia Pacific Head of Consumer and Retail Sector of UBS Investment Banking and also a member of its Asia Pacific Regional Leadership Group. Joined the Board of CAN since 2024.

Samantha began her career in the telecom sector and progressed through various roles in investment banking and asset management. With her demonstrated strengths in leadership, strategic planning, business development, team development, stakeholder relationship management, and risk oversight, she brings extensive experience to her role as the Board Chair of CAN.

Samantha holds an MBA Degree from the Hong Kong University Science and Technology and a Master Degree in International Relations from the Cambridge University. She also attended the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.

Stephen Howard

Board Director

Stephen is a senior markets executive and responsible officer with board-level experience for Hong Kong Regulated Banking entities and a regional stock exchange. He has 25 years trading and management oversight experience across sell and buy-side businesses for major US, European Banks and a Hong Kong Hedge Fund. He joined the Board of CAN since 2022.

Stephen is currently the Chief Executive Officer of a regional financial industry association, representing more than 60 global financial institutions. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting & finance, is a graduate of the Financial Times Non-Executive Directors programme and has completed post graduate work with Oxford University.

Sean Hung

Board Director

Sean is a seasoned technology builder and investor. Sean has over 10 years of experience in finance and technology. He is the founding partner of Chiron, a technology-focused private equity firm. Prior to Chiron, he was Director at Equonex, a NASDAQ-listed digital assets exchange, and Diginex, its sister company that focuses on blockchain ESG solutions where he was heading up product development for Diginex’s ESG reporting SaaS platform. Prior to that, he was Vice President at Cantor Fitzgerald, a global investment bank.

Sean holds an MBA Degree from Northeastern University.

Christopher Roberge

Board Director

Christopher is a senior tax partner by profession with over 25 years of experience across Canada, US and Asia Pacific holding various senior leadership positions within Deloitte & Touche LLP from Canada to Hong Kong including the following current roles:

  • Global Offerings, Industry and Alliance Leader, Tax & Legal
  • Asia Pacific Growth Leader, Tax & Legal

He also served on numerous boards and executive committees including the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, United Way etc. and serves many of the largest global companies. On one hand, he works with numerous Asian companies on attracting financial incentives and funding for clean energy development. On the other hand, he works with governments on designing their fiscal systems to promote clean energy by advising on environmental policies. He has been recognized consecutively for the last 6 years as the Top Tax Advisor in Asia and is a frequent speaker at conferences.

Richard Williamson

Board Director

Richard commenced his career with some of Australia’s leading banks and insurers, and has over 25 years experience in financial services operational and advisory roles (including roles in asset management, banking, insurance and financial services distribution/brokerage). Joined the Board of CAN since 2019.

Richard moved to Asia (Shanghai) in 2002, and HK in 2004, and has maintained a keen interest in environmental issues, and more recently, ESG sustainability factors. Richard has a B.A (University of Melbourne) and M.Bus (Mktg) (Monash Business School), and has been based in London, Melbourne, Sydney, Shanghai and Beijing.

Yan Yan Yip

Board Director

Yan Yan has over 20 years of experience of working and volunteering in Hong Kong’s NGO sector. Currently she spends her time on sustainability-related projects and consultancy work. She was previously with WYNG Foundation, a private foundation that aims to enhance wellbeing of people in Hong Kong through philanthropy. Prior to joining WYNG Foundation, she led Civic Exchange, a local independent public policy think tank focusing on social and environmental policy research and stakeholders engagement. She joined CAN’s board in 2016.

Dr. Anthony Ng

Board Advisor

Dr Anthony Ng was born in Hong Kong, where he received his primary and secondary education. He left to study abroad in 1966. He received his BSc degree from McGill University and his MD and MPH degrees from Tulane University, New Orleans, USA. He then received his clinical surgery training in the United State, New Zealand and England. He joined the University Surgical Unit of Hong Kong University Medical School in 1979. He started his private practice group in 1986. He has retired from active practice since 2012. Since returning to Hong Kong, he has taken an interest in community affairs. He is currently a director of Parks and Trails Ltd., and Urban Spring Co. Ltd.

Dr. Kwok Keung Ng

Dr. Daniel K. Ng is the Founding President of Asian Paediatric Pulmonology Society as well as the Honorary Consultant, Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, Hong Kong. He also serves as the honorary consultant paediatrician in Kwong Wah Hospital and United Christian Hospital. He is the honorary council member of the Hong Kong Society of Paediatric Respirology. Dr Ng joined the Board of CAN since 2019.

Dr. Ng has extensive experience in the field of paediatric respiratory medicine, especially asthma, allergic rhinitis, pneumonia and obstructive sleep apnea. His work in the field of paediatric respirology alert him to the adverse impact of air pollution, both indoor and outdoor. He views CAN as a valuable partner to improve the respiratory health of children and decrease the occurrence of respiratory diseases in children as he understands that a lot of adult respiratory health issues like poor physical fitness stem from exposure to air pollution.

Joseph Poon

Board Advisor

Mr. Poon is an independent non-executive director of Hysan Development Company Limited and a non-executive director of Tai Chong Cheang Group. He is an advisor to the Asia Pacific Institute for Strategy. He was an independent non-executive director of AAC Technologies Holdings Inc., managing director and deputy chief executive of Hang Seng Bank Limited and had held senior management posts in HSBC Group. Joined the Board of CAN since 2019.

Mr. Poon was a former chairman of Hang Seng Index Advisory Committee, Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited, a former member of the Board of Inland Revenue of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Environment and Conservation Fund Investment Committee, and a former committee member of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Poon holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia, is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Poon is also a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.

Po Tang

Board Advisor

Po is a board-level senior finance executive with over 30 years of experience and has worked in several large multi-billion international organizations. He was born in Hong Kong but spent most of his life in London, and in 2012 he came to Hong Kong for a 2-year assignment before returning in 2017 to be permanently based here. Joined the Board of CAN since 2019.

Through his outdoor activities, he often encountered alarming levels of high air pollution. As a father of three, he is extremely concerned with the damages what this does to our children’s health as well to other vulnerable groups of society, the elderly. Researches have shown that these two groups (together with those with respiratory problems) are more susceptible to the adverse the effect of poor air quality and this drove him into the search for how to help to improve the air quality in our city.

He feels that raising public awareness, behavioural changes and influencing government policies will help to drive to improve the air quality of the city. As a Advisor of CAN, he looks forward to engaging with businesses, the community and official bodies in achieving these goals.

Wendy Wen Yee Yung

Board Advisor

Wendy Wen Yee YUNG is an advocate for good corporate governance in Hong Kong. Prior to founding “Practising Governance” for this cause, Wendy was Executive Director and Company Secretary of Hysan Development. Joined the Board of CAN since 2022.

First trained as a solicitor, Wendy also qualified as a certified public accountant and a governance practitioner in Hong Kong. She sits on various committees of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute, having served as co-opted council member and council member of the institutes respectively. She graduated with First Class Honours in Law from Oxford University, United Kingdom.

Over the years, she had served as a member of the Listing Committee of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform, the Professional Accountants in Business Committee of the International Federation of Accountants, and the Audit and Risk Committee of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority.

Tong Zhao

Board Advisor

Tong is an independent advisor providing counsel to senior executives on critical matters impacting their corporate reputation. She was a partner of Brunswick Group from 2007 to 2018, during this period of 11 years, Tong led many issue management work and M&A communications, as well as corporate governance advisory and ESG reporting in Asia. Joined the Board of CAN since 2017.

Prior to Brunswick, Tong had gathered extensive corporate experience in aerospace, auto and IT industries, as well as management consulting.

Patrick Fung

CEO

Patrick has a proven track record in driving clean air initiatives through constructive dialogue with government bodies and legislators. He has developed extensive collaborations with experts in air science, public health, and urban planning sectors to further CAN’s mission. Patrick joined CAN in 2011 and has been serving as CEO since 2016. He was appointed by the HKSAR Government as an expert member of the Air Quality Objectives Review Working Group for the periods 2016-2018 and 2022-2023. Frequently featured in local media and expert panels, Patrick is a recognized voice in air quality advocacy. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and attended the Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Melville Peter Pradhan

Project Manager

Melville currently leads the “Indoor Air Quality” campaign, driven in the power of data to make a social impact. With diverse experience in various sectors, including humanitarian, insurance, finance and education, he’s passionate about enhancing well being through improved air quality. Melville holds a Bachelor’s in Science and a Master’s in Social Work. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking with his four-year-old and paddling with his dragon boat team. Joined CAN since 2018.

Connie Chan

Project Manager

Connie is currently the Project Manager of Clean Air Neighborhood project.   She was a journalist and editor in local media in her earlier working years.  Having been working in Hong Kong and international right-based NGOs for over 15 years, Connie is experienced in campaigning, advocacy, and activism, with solid know-how on strategic planning and capacity building, and committed herself in walking with grassroots and marginalized communities in advocating for justice and human rights.  Connie has a BA in Marketing and MA in Cultural Studies, she is dedicated to films and performing arts.

Annie Li

Campaign Manager

Annie worked at small- and medium-sized civil society organizations in Hong Kong in advocacy, research, communications and youth empowerment before joining Clean Air Network. She also worked with the International Organization for Migration as a consultant on research, business partnership and evaluation in Hong Kong. She holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government and Laws) degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree from The University of Hong Kong, and studied at Sciences Po Paris for a year as an exchange student. Her pastimes include playing the piano and learning mathematics.

Elsa Tam

Social Designer

Elsa graduated from the bachelor of Social Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is passionate about community research and aims to explore the voices and opinions of different groups on social issues. Through the power of community, she hopes to collectively brainstorm possible improvement solutions and drive change from the grassroots level.

Michelle Tong

Communication Officer

Michelle studied Environmental Science for her Bachelor’s degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She believes that the development and well-being of humans are strongly connected to nature. With a strong foundation in environmental knowledge, Michelle is dedicated to driving positive change and promoting sustainability. She enjoys exploring by hiking and travelling.
