Clean Air Network Leadership Transition: Accelerating Progress Toward Clean Air for All

[April 20, 2026] Clean Air Network (CAN), Hong Kong’s leading clean air advocacy organization, has announced the appointment of Fiona Chan as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, succeeding Patrick Fung. Fung will join the Board of CAN after completing his executive tenure.

Samantha Hon, Chairperson of the Board, says, “The Board extends its deepest gratitude to Patrick for his 15 years of outstanding service, including a decade of dedicated leadership as CAN’s CEO. At the same time, we warmly welcome Fiona to the role. With her unique blend of a proven track record in both the business sector and volunteer service, we are confident that Fiona will inject new energy into CAN and bring significant momentum to expanding CAN’s reach and impact with high efficiency and effectiveness.”

Fiona’s background combines extensive volunteer experience in the arts, education, and counselling sectors with impressive business credentials at leading institutions including the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Standard Chartered Bank, and Manulife Financial. She excels at leading her team in developing strong connections between institutions and their stakeholders in dynamic operating environments, while staying true to core brand values.

Fiona Chan says, “I am honored and grateful for the trust and full support placed in me by the Board and management team. CAN has played a profound role in Hong Kong’s environmental sustainability and public health. I am committed to building on this strong foundation to advance our vision and mission of achieving clean air for all.”

Patrick Fung says, “It has been a great pleasure to lead CAN for the past decade. I remain fully committed to the mission and to supporting the next phase of CAN’s growth as a Board Director.”

About Clean Air Network

Established in 2009, Clean Air Network is the only dedicated air-issue focused NGO in Hong Kong. We believe that clean air, indoors and outdoors, is vital to the health, safety, and overall well-being of our communities.

During the past decade, CAN has made significant contributions—through a combination of education, media, research, and community engagement—to raising public awareness and building support for major government policy changes that improved Hong Kong’s roadside air quality by 36% to 88% between 2004 and 2024, resulting in over a 50% reduction in long-term health risks[1].

We are committed to raising awareness about the importance of both indoor and outdoor clean air and inspiring action among individuals and institutions to adopt effective practices that advance our vision and mission: “Clean Air for All”.
