CEO Patrick Fung Shares Insights on Air Quality at BOC Life Sustainability Seminar

On 19 June, our CEO, Patrick Fung, was invited to speak at BOC Life’s Sustainability Seminar Series. Addressing an audience of more than 100 audiences, both onsite and online, Patrick emphasized that clean air is fundamental to the health and wellbeing of everyone.

Noting that urban residents in cities like Hong Kong typically spend up to 90% of their time indoors, Patrick shared his observation that the awareness and management of indoor air quality can be strengthened in Hong Kong. He highlighted the crucial roles that operators and facility managers play in protecting the health of employees, consumers, and the wider community.

Patrick explained that air pollution has direct and harmful impacts on respiratory and cardiovascular health, as well as cognitive function. Children, elderly and chronic patients are especially affected. He also discussed the importance of data in enabling individuals to make informed decisions about air quality management. He introduced a wide range of affordable and accessible tools for monitoring and assessing air quality in various settings.

The audience expressed strong interest in effective strategies for monitoring indoor air quality and implementing appropriate mitigation measures.

In closing, Patrick reiterated that clean air is fundamental to our quality of life. He encouraged participants to raise awareness among their colleagues, families, and the wider community, all working together towards the shared vision of “Clean Air For All.”
