I. Communication Manager (or Assistant Communication Manager)
Since found in 2009, CAN has become a principal advocate for clean air and the only dedicated air issue focused non-profit organization in Hong Kong. Over a decade or so, we have been a strong force from civil society in the shaping of HK government’s long-term emission control strategy through constructive dialogue and with scientifically
sound approaches. We have maintained consistent media presence and via own platforms to raise public awareness on air pollution related issues and the impact of them to their health. Yet, a lot to be achieved for making clean air a sustainable reality in Hong Kong.
Here is an opportunity to serve in the non-profit world, and help navigate the challenges to grow the organization and escalate its impact to address the top environmental health issue present in our city.
Roles and Responsibilities
To implement our strategy, the Communication Manager will work with a small, yet highly effective and multi-talented campaign team to co-deliver established campaign goals.
The role is responsible for developing content strategy and planning across effective channels to meet organisational goals and objective.
The Communication Manager is primarily responsible for working with the CEO to develop and implement effective communication plan, with the objectives to strengthen organizational and project based communications.
Specific areas of duties:
- Develop corporate / impact communication strategy
- Manage media and branding campaigns and stakeholder relationship
- Support project level communication plan
- Passionate on and have understanding of global and local environmental issues
- Bachelor or master’s degree with 3-5 years of work experience on impact / corporate messaging
- With strong senses on project management and quality control • Strong ability to communicate in English and Chinese • Able to analyze, understand and synthesize complex information,
and to present these findings in a concise and engaging way • Experience in developing communication strategy, development of website/app
- Experience in project management and media management • Able to work in small team
Clean Air Network is a non-profit organization with charitable status Founded in 2009, our vision is to preserve clean air in Hong Kong.
To achieve this vision, CAN is dedicated to driving policy and behavioural change to improve Hong Kong’s air quality. Without losing sight on air pollution from regional activities, marine vessels and power plants, our current primary focus is on roadside pollution and indoor air pollution.

Our internship program stimulates and educates young people to engage in society through the understanding of environmental issues, in particular, air quality in Hong Kong and gain a sense of civil engagement through various outreach, marketing and communication exercises.
Our interns customarily participate in community-oriented projects, permitting them to learn about environmental issues through grassroots outreach activities that put them in touch with members of the community at all levels, in different sectors.
We accept applications for internships year round. Both long-term and short-term interns are welcomed but note that the minimum work period is 1 month. Although our internships are unpaid, an internship at CAN is among the most rewarding in Hong Kong with each intern given a high degree of personal responsibility for entire projects. We accept students ranging from senior high school students to post-graduates.
