We, especially the health of children, are being severely affected by the substandard air quality in Hong Kong for a long time. To raise the children’s and parents’ awareness of air pollution, Clean Air Network and Goldman Sachs co-organized GS x CAN Community Activity Day at Sham Shi Po District on 2 June to provide participants with firsthand experience to learn about the impact of roadside pollution on our health and the environment.
The Activity Day was divided into two parts. First, the children were introduced to the factors contributing to poor air quality in Hong Kong through participating in games and workshops to arouse their creativity and interests in air pollution. They also learnt how to use a PM2.5 Air Monitoring Machine to measure the concentrations of air particulate matter with the assistance of volunteers from Goldman Sachs.
Following that, the children and volunteers took part in an even more exciting event- Airmazing Race. With the orienteering map provided by Clean Air Network, they worked hand in hand to explore every corner in the Sham Shui Po community and look for various checkpoints to complete a series of missions related to air pollution. Aside from deepening their knowledge in the area, this also helped them gain a better understanding of the work of Clean Air Network so as to fight for clean air in Hong Kong together.
Thank you once again for the active participation of the volunteers from Goldman Sachs and children who helped make the event successful.
